How does Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) help?
NLP is an uncomplicated, pain-free, fast acting and highly effective psychotherapeutic tool.
NLP explores your behaviours and attitudes that you wish to change and releases painful emotions linked to their source. It is the stored emotion linked to a memory that stirs up fears, anxieties and limiting attitudes. Once the painful emotion is released, the memory no longer has the same debilitating effect.
Releasing these stored negative emotions frees the subconscious to be far more optimistic and productive. Once freed of fears, you are releasing the greater part of your mind to cheer you on to be brilliant. During a consultation, a person does not need to revisit the exact original memory, especially if traumatic, or even verbally discuss the issue to be released. NLP strategies invite the subconscious to privately find the emotions it has stored and release them in a peaceful manner. The subconscious mind is a genius aspect of ourselves and with encouragement and guidance it will know how to change our stored emotions from painful to harmonious.
Unlike traditional ‘talk therapy’ that can rehash personal stories repeatedly, NLP does not require a person to analyse a memory to release it.
NLP uses a non-intrusive, uncomplicated and supportive approach to help the subconscious pinpoint the issue and find a new way of seeing the situation. Old paradigms and perceptions are released and the subconscious adopts a revised, beneficial viewpoint, which frees you up to be more optimistic in life.
What are examples of NLP processes?
Timeline Therapy ™
In a relaxed mental state, the client travels back in time to the original (or any similar) memory that triggered a limiting belief. Whilst there, the client gains clarity about the situation that their younger self didn’t realise at the time. With this new view of the situation, the emotion is released and the client returns to the present moment retaining the memory but not the emotion. The release of the negative emotion brings a feeling of freedom and a shift in paradigm about their future potential without that original fear.
Releasing Limiting Beliefs
Self-concepts that are un-resourceful, such as “I’m not a leader”, “I’m not a risk taker”, “I don’t like competition”, “I’m unlucky” can be shifted easily by loosening up the hold the subconscious has on that thought. It is holding on to a memory and it’s related belief in a particular pattern. Through a very clever and fast series of questions, these patterns can be disrupted and switched around so that the subconscious is given a new pattern to hold on to that is more beneficial.
Like to Dislike (Shifting bad habits)
If you have a habit that you would like to shift, the attachments to enjoying that habit are scrambled so that your subconscious now prefers NOT to participate in that habit.
This same process is used for training the subconscious to enjoy an activity that it previously disliked (e.g. eating vegetables, sales calls, socialising, driving, swimming etc.)
Parts integration (used for indecision, inner conflict and feeling stuck)
If you find yourself unmotivated to change or trapped in your decision making about an issue, it is because different parts of your mind are in conflict about what is the best choice to make. This prevents you from moving forward.
Parts integration allows you to hear the intended goal from each part of your subconscious and help them see how they actually have common goals. Once these parts of your subconscious realise this commonality, an integration occurs, allowing these parts of your mind to work in partnership rather than conflict.
These are only a few of the techniques offered to help shift your mindset and behaviours. You can also remove fears and phobias, reduce anxiety and stress, alleviate pain, release anger and sadness, improve relationships, forgive others, set and achieve goals more easily and release any limiting feeling, image, thought, emotion or sensation that has been holding you back.

A mutual friend had discussed NLP with me and had enthusiastically endorsed the outcomes that can be achieved. Having been a life long smoker and tried all known methods for giving up, I thought I’ve got nothing to loose.
Somewhat sceptical I made an appointment, a session with Anna involved sitting and chatting for an hour or so.
